The British throne Queen Victoria ascended

Princess Victoria inherited the English throne at the age of 18 years after the death of the last of the Hanoverian dynasty male – Kings George IV and William IV, leaving no heirs.   June 20, 1837 she came to the throne, and her coronation took place in Westminster Abbey on June 28, 1838. For 64 years of the reign of the Queen Victoria, Britain has experienced extraordinary political, economic and cultural progress. In the country there were constructed street lights, sidewalks, sanitation and hygiene, water supply and sewerage, underground.   At that time, there were invented and widely spread kitchen equipment cans, photography, music boxes and mechanical pianos, toys, postcards. In the Victorian era there were introduced a theatrical celebration of Christmas and the practice of presenting Christmas gifts.
