The Historic City of Rome

Set on the banks of the River Tiber, Rome is a constant hub for tourists from around the world. Whether it’s history, art & architecture, religion, culture, shopping, nightlife, or a dash of summer sun – Rome has every base covered.

Vatican City

Home to the Pope, the Vatican City, situated at the Northwestern tip of the city, attracts over five million visitors a year to witness the stunning architecture and religious resonance of the grand Basilica of St Peter and the beautiful artistic intricacies of Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel. Tickets including entry to all the attractions and unlimited time in the Vatican grounds costs only €16 and can be purchased at the entrance. For a small additional fee, you can gain access to the dome in the roof of the Basilica, widely recognized as the best place from which to view the city.

Colosseum

Rome’s other major tourist attraction is the Colosseum. Tourists can walk among the incredibly well-preserved ruins of the world’s most famous amphitheatre, where emperors sat and warriors fought, and marvel at the statues, engravings and weaponry in the Colosseum museum.

Trevi Fountain

Rome’s historic attractions are seemingly never-ending, and also include the hugely popular Trevi Fountain, where tourists and locals alike come to make a wish, The Pantheon temple which still holds services to this day, and the Spanish Steps, Europe’s widest staircase.
Rome experiences scorching temperatures in the summer months, averaging 32 degrees at midday in July and August. This makes Rome the ideal destination for tourists looking for sun without compromising on culture.

Via Condotti

Rome boasts shopping opportunities for all budgets, but the famous Via Condotti is where you should head if fashion is your thing. Via Condotti, the birthplace of jewelry giant Bulgari, is home to many independent Rome-based fashion stores as well as world leaders like Armani, Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana.

When the sun sets, Rome comes alive. The streets and piazzas bustle with musicians and performers, alfresco diners and wondrous lighting amidst a stream of restaurants and bars.  For those looking for a more conventional night out, Monte Testaccio, located in the south of the city, by the river, attracts locals and tourists alike with its range of clubs, disco-bars and emergent gay nightclub scene.
